Last December I co-produced and co-directed "Late Bloomers,” a webseries for GOLD Comedy. As I mentioned in my last post, it was only my second time directing. My previous directing experience was a no-dialogue one person short, a *very* different endeavor from an ensemble comedy.
I'm also co-editing the series. Starting the post-production process was extremely daunting and surprisingly insightful about the directing process. I learned so much about what I should have done differently on set. It was a real humbling experience to face my shortcomings alone in the editing room, away from the excitement and adrenaline of a comedy set.
I had planned on sharing rough cuts of my episodes here, but I was too stressed trying to solve my rookie director mistakes to get it in front of anyone besides my teammates.
We are finally picture locked and after the ups-and-downs of the editing process, I feel good about where we landed and ready to share the show with the world.
Late Bloomers launches in a week on Monday, April 29! Expect one new episode a week, for 6 weeks.
Next Sunday, April 28, we're having a Launch Party at the Alligator Lounge at 4pm. Tickets are $10 and the first 20 people get free drink🍹 and pizza🍕 vouchers. I will love to see you there!

Even cooler than that, you'll get to see Nico in the background of the opening scene of Episode 5. While I was able to avoid using his many takes poking his nose or saying “What's mama doing?” with a mouth full of tangerines, I was not able to cut around him staring at the camera, which happened in *every* take. Hey, I guess that's what happens when mom's behind the camera.
I'm incredibly proud of what we were able to achieve with very limited resources. We are a team of very scrappy first time directors, actors, editors, DP .
